About Lawyer
Eric S. Baum is Senior Counsel at the Toronto office where he practices subrogation and insurance defence, having joined Aviva Trial Lawyers in 2025. Prior to this, Eric was a founding partner of a Toronto litigation boutique. He is an experienced litigator who has practiced various aspects of insurance law almost exclusively for the past 15+ years.
Eric has trial, appellate and mediation experience, and has acted as counsel in matters before all levels of court in Ontario, along with various administrative bodies and regulatory tribunals. He was recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada (2024-2025) for Health Care Law and Professional Malpractice Law.
In addition to his courtroom work, Eric enjoys sharing his insights with the broader legal community through regular presentations on relevant topics and mentoring junior counsel. He holds positions on the executives of the Insurance Law Section and the Health Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association, reflecting his commitment to these areas of law.
